Where Third Beach is and how to arrive
The City places Third Beach at Ferguson Point and lists pay parking. Use Map and look for the Third Beach parking areas in the parking guide. Do not select the distant bus loop and assume it is a beachside drop-off.
For walking, choose a permitted coastal approach and review closures before travel. For cycling, read the perimeter direction and return guidance; a sunset stop does not remove the direction rules.
Plan a shoreline visit
Make the beach itself the anchor rather than adding a long list of attractions across the park. Our suggested visit allowance is 45–90 minutes at the shore, plus all travel and food time. It is a flexible budget, not a claim about how long everyone needs.
If someone in your group would rather explore, agree on a meeting point and time before separating. Keep belongings and footwear suitable for moving between the shore and the permitted paths; a scenic detour should not depend on entering a closed section.

Food, toilets and swimming
The City lists washrooms, a concession and seasonal lifeguarding. Read the food directory for the concession location and plan a backup when its opening is uncertain. The facilities guide is useful before staying late.
Check official water-quality information and beach signs before swimming. A tide prediction describes water level, not whether swimming conditions are suitable. Tides and coastal conditions explains the separate checks.
Sunset and your journey home
For an evening visit, check sunset for your actual date and decide when to leave while you can still make your return comfortably. Allow for packing up, reaching the vehicle or pickup point and travelling onward. Do not rely on an unconfirmed concession or restaurant to provide shelter after closing.
If renting bicycles, agree on the return time and route with the shop beforehand. If walking, a shorter daylight outing may suit your group better than reaching a remote point late and then improvising transport.
Second Beach or Third Beach?
Choose Second Beach if your main plan includes the pool, playground or an English Bay connection. Choose Third Beach if you are prepared to make the shore the main event. Neither is a guaranteed quiet space on every day.
For a restaurant meal, compare Ferguson Point dining with food near your final exit. A reservation should account for the route from the beach, not just the time you hope to leave the sand.
