Find your Stanley Park guide

For a first visit, choose your destination before choosing an entrance: Stanley Park Loop for the Aquarium and central gardens, or the English Bay side for Second Beach.

Choose a lot, compare seasonal rates and understand parking passes.

Plan opening hours and costs around the experience, not just the park gate.

Start with the features you need: step-free access, manageable slopes, a dependable toilet, seating or a quieter visit.

Plan a toilet stop before the forest or a long waterfront section.

Check the dated notices below before choosing a route.

Tides change throughout the day and across the calendar. There is no single “high tide season” that tells you when a particular beach or coastal path is suitable.

Choose one main experience and a nearby second stop. A family visit usually works better with room for snacks, toilets and a change of plan than with a full-park checklist.

A light-rain outing and a storm-day outing are different decisions. Check the forecast and notices first, then choose a route you can shorten without a difficult return.

Plan the correct direction, rental time, stops and return.

Choose the bike and return arrangements before choosing the cheapest hourly rate. The useful comparison is the total cost of an outing your whole group can complete.

Start with the time and distance you want to walk, then choose waterfront, forest or a compact sightseeing area. You do not need to complete the seawall to enjoy the park.

Choose a named forest walk with a clear start and return.

Group nearby sights into one outing. Trying to collect every landmark can turn a relaxed visit into a day of travel between stops.

Choose Second Beach for a southwest outing with playground, picnic or pool time.

Choose a picnic place by facilities and the kind of gathering you want. A casual stop with a packed lunch and a reserved group event have different requirements.

Follow the waterfront sequence and check current route notices.

Explore the forest using a named approach and a clear return.

Enjoy a lagoon, the coast or a garden without committing to the perimeter.

Second Beach is a practical southwest-park base for a short coastal walk, playground time or a picnic.

Third Beach suits an outing centred on sitting by the shore or watching the evening light.

Check seasonal status, admission context and family requirements.

Treat the Aquarium as the main attraction for part of your day. Check its own tickets, opening information and entry arrangements before adding other park stops.

Visit the totem poles as works with specific creators and cultural histories. Allow time to read interpretation rather than treating the site only as a photo stop.

Prospect Point is a viewpoint destination. Plan the approach you intend to use; a view over the coast is not the same as being on the seawall below.

Lost Lagoon is a useful destination for a visit focused on the park’s lagoon landscape. Choose the route and turnaround that match your time rather than automatically adding a full park loop.

Beaver Lake is an inland destination that belongs within a checked forest route. Plan the path to it and the way back before leaving the developed edge of the park.

Siwash Rock is a coastal landmark to view from a permitted route. Choose a viewpoint and check access before making it the fixed centre of a long outing.

The Rose Garden is one option for a garden-focused Stanley Park visit. Choose a slower outing around seasonal interest, while remembering that flowering varies between dates and years.

Train operations remain suspended according to the City page reviewed on October 16, 2026. Do not build a visit around a ride or assume past holiday events will return.

Choose a restaurant near the part of the park where your outing ends.

Use a concession for a quick stop on the route you are already taking.

Choose nearby food around the side of the park where you finish. English Bay and the West End serve a different outing from Coal Harbour.

Coal Harbour can be part of the journey to or from the park. Count that connection in your available time instead of treating it as a free extra after a long outing.

The English Bay and West End side is a practical area to investigate after a southwestern park outing. Choose a destination and a return route rather than wandering until transport becomes difficult.

Build a spring visit around gardens and a flexible walk.

Choose one main summer experience: the coast by bicycle, a beach afternoon or a pool visit with a confirmed session.

For autumn, choose an outing that still works with shorter daylight and changing services: a garden-and-lunch visit, a short shoreline walk or a named forest route when open.

A winter visit works best as a compact outing with a dependable finish.

With one hour, choose one compact park area. The hour should begin and end where your transport or next commitment requires, not at an imaginary point beside the attraction.

Two hours is enough for a focused outing, not every major sight. Choose one area and allow the return journey to shape the rest of the plan.

A forest-and-gardens outing with named stops, lunch and a return plan.

A full day gives you room for breaks and depth. It should not mean filling every hour or collecting every landmark regardless of distance.

Start with where you want to go, how much time you have and how you will get home. These practical guides answer the details before you commit to a route.

Choose the kind of experience you want, then use its dedicated guide to plan the route, timing and practical details.

Choose a place for its setting and practical fit. Each destination below has its own page, with planning advice and official information sources.

Choose a route by travel mode, surface, available time and return options. The right route is the one that works for your whole group on the day.

Use these suggested frameworks to decide how much to attempt. Adapt them to your arrival point, pace, interests and the current conditions.

The best time depends on your priorities. Choose the season for the kind of outing you want, then check the forecast and specific facilities for your actual date.

Pick food around your route and the level of planning you want. A picnic, a seasonal concession and a reserved restaurant meal solve different needs.

Nearby areas can make arrival, food and the return journey easier. Keep the extension connected to the side of the park you are actually visiting.

Use the map that answers your question: destination locations, walking and cycling routes, parking or access features. The text directory below remains usable without an interactive map.
