Lost Lagoon Path, Stanley Park: Walking Route Guide

Lost Lagoon Path is the walking route around the lagoon at the southern edge of Stanley Park. Choose a full circuit only when it suits your group; a shorter out-and-back can keep the return simple.

About Lost Lagoon Path

The lagoon’s public paths offer waterside views and opportunities to observe birds. The City describes Lost Lagoon as a freshwater body since the Causeway was completed in 1926. Walking here is different from entering the deeper forest or following the ocean seawall around the whole park.

Finding the right arrival point

The southeast viewing area and Nature House provide one starting option. Choose your own return point before setting off. Do not assume that a bus-loop arrival, a west-side parking area and the Nature House entrance have the same connecting distance.

What to check before visiting

Paths can be damp, and the exact surface or temporary work needs checking for your equipment. The Nature House’s opening and winter flood-barrier limitations are separate from outdoor walking access. Keep food away from wildlife and use open paths rather than the planted or muddy water edge.

Combine this stop with nearby places

For a shorter outing, combine one stretch with the Nature House while it is open. For a longer one, compare Cathedral Trail and the forest-route guide, reading current notices before committing to a connecting loop.
