Dated seawall works notice

The City announces a full seawall closure between Lumberman’s Arch and Third Beach from October 19 until November 7, 2026, with possible intermittent closures until November 20. Its notice directs walkers and cyclists to signed diversions through Beaver Lake. Read the current seawall works notice and detour map.

Do not use the normal perimeter route as an uninterrupted circuit during that work. A posted completion date is not proof of reopening; revisit the City notice on the day you travel.

Road and forest work affecting access

The City’s forest-management notice lists closure of the one-way Pipeline Road extension north of the wood bridge/Ravine Trail from October 14 to December 21, 2026. It also reports intermittent road and trail impacts, with west-side trail interruptions beginning the week of October 13 and east-side interruptions from the week of October 26. Read the forest-work access notice.

These works affect more than one route type. A driving itinerary needs road checks; a forest walk needs trail checks. Neither a street-navigation app nor an old social-media clip establishes that a crossing is available.

How to adapt your outing

If you came for coastal scenery, choose a shorter open waterfront section and return the way you came on foot. If you came for a forest outing, keep the central garden option available instead of improvising through a work zone. Cyclists must follow the signed diversion rather than riding against the permitted perimeter direction.

A diversion through the forest can change gradients, surface and distance. People with mobility needs should not assume a detour has the same access characteristics as the route it replaces. Use accessibility guidance and ask for current route details.

Check before leaving and at the entrance

Before departure, open the two City notices, the weather forecast and any attraction page essential to the visit. At the park, follow barriers and staff directions even if a saved route shows a continuous line. Check the Vancouver forecast.

Our pool page handles seasonal pool status separately. Concession opening and bus service are also separate checks; a park-wide notice cannot establish those services are operating.

Sources and current information

Check current operating details with the responsible operator. A source-review date does not claim an on-site visit; older route references do not establish current access.
