Getting to Stanley Park

For a first visit, choose your destination before choosing an entrance: Stanley Park Loop for the Aquarium and central gardens, or the English Bay side for Second Beach.

Choose your entrance by destination

The Georgia Street entrance works well for the eastern and central park. The Beach Avenue approach serves the southwest. These are different starting points: arriving at one does not put you beside every attraction. Use the comparison below to avoid spending your visit crossing the park just to reach your first stop. City entrance guidance.

Take the number 19 bus

Take a bus signed for Stanley Park, not the opposite direction. The City identifies stops near Lost Lagoon at Stanley Park Drive/Pipeline Road and at Stanley Park Loop. There is no public bus circuit around the whole park. Open route 19 and select your travel date and direction.

The Aquarium describes the walk from the bus as about five minutes. That is an operator estimate, not a timing for every park destination. For a beach day, compare your final walking leg before committing to the bus-loop arrival. Save the return stop before you set off; a sunset outing needs a return journey as well as a way in. Aquarium arrival details.

Arrive from YVR or the cruise terminal

From YVR, the Canada Line takes you into downtown; it does not run into Stanley Park. Use TransLink’s airport guidance and plan the final connection to your chosen entrance. Include baggage collection, transfer and walking time in your schedule.

From Canada Place, a waterfront approach through Coal Harbour can become part of the outing. If your priority is time inside the park, compare transit or a direct drop-off instead. Cruise passengers should work backwards from their own all-aboard time and allow a separate return buffer. This guide does not promise that a fixed airport layover or shore excursion is long enough.

Walk or cycle into the park

Approach from Coal Harbour for the eastern waterfront, or from English Bay for Second Beach. Walking and cycling are not interchangeable routes: the park’s perimeter cycling direction matters. Read the cycling guide before choosing a rental shop or trying to head north from the west-side beaches.

For an easy-to-shorten first visit, choose an out-and-back walk. Turn around while everyone still has energy rather than assuming you must complete the perimeter.

Driving, drop-off and your return journey

Set your navigation destination to the attraction or named lot, not simply “Stanley Park.” Consult parking for lot choices and rates. The Causeway and a scenic park visit are different journeys; follow the park entrance and destination signs.

For taxi or rideshare travel, agree on a named pickup point with legal vehicle access. A map pin beside the seawall is not necessarily a place a driver can reach. Before travel, read road and route notices.

Sources and current information

Check current operating details with the responsible operator. A source-review date does not claim an on-site visit; older route references do not establish current access.
